Rylee was absolutely wonderful on the flight! She feel asleep in the airport before we had left and she was very good during the flight. She received several compliments on how such a good flyer she was! She definitely got a lot of attention at the airport! Mitch and I took turns holding her during the flight. Her ears never bothered her during the take off and landing. On the way there, we had a non-stop flight. It was a little bit of a challenge to handle Rylee and all of our 6 bags of luggage :) but we managed! We didn't bring her stroller, but we brought a carrier/sling.
Once we arrived at the Hotel, we unpacked and decided to venture out by foot the nearby areas surrounding the Hotel. We grabbed lunch at Applebee's and walked to a grocery store and picked up a few snacks!
On 9/11 we went into DC after a day of Training with two of my co-workers, Dave and Joey. We took the Hotel Shuttle to the airport, where we caught the Metro Bus for a 45 minute ride to the Metro Train Rail, where we took the rail into the center of DC. It was quite a journey with Rylee but it was the least expensive route to take until we rented a car. We walked to see the White House, the Washington Monument, the Reflection Pool, and the Lincoln Memorial. We also saw the Korean Memorial. Rylee did so wonderful and she was always happy and giggly.
The next day after I got out of training, we went to the Air and Space Musuem. Here we saw the Concord and the Enterprise Shuttle, along with a ton of other planes! This is a picture of Rylee as we waited for the bus to come and pick us up once it closed to shuttle us back to the airport and then shuttle back to the hotel..LOL
We were able to rent a car on Thursday and on Friday we went in to DC again. We saw several museums that day, such as the Smithsonian museum. We also sat down on the lawn at "The Mall" in front of the Capitol building and we got a lot of really cute pictures! That night, Rylee had Nakey time at the hotel to give her a chance to be out of her diaper for a while.
Saturday was a bit chili, but absolutely beautiful weather!! I can't wait for Fall weather in Florida. The cool breeze was so nice! Rylee got to wear the sweater outfit that her Uncle Ryan and Aunt Steph got her, she looked super cute in it! We did sooo much on Saturday! We toured the capitol building, saw several more museums - The Smithsonian, Treasures of American History, Botanical Garden Museum, The Native American museum, the Air and Space Museum. We went to Ford's Theater where Lincoln was shot and the house across the street where he passed away. We walked around the city some more and we ended the day with touring Arlington Cemetery. There we saw the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We also saw the Eternal Flame for JFK, as well as other famous grave sites, including heroes of 9/11 and the shuttle disaster.
Rylee has also started to teethe a bit and she has started to bite on her fingers a lot to help soothe her gums. I haven't noticed any teeth yet though! She has plenty of teething toys now! :) She is also starting to arch her back and twist as if to try to roll over, so I think she is getting close!!! We still practice sitting up with her in her bumbo seat and she does great!!!!
We flew home late on Sunday and we had to connect in Atlanta. Rylee again did soo great on the plane! We were SOOO glad to be home again.
